Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat is definitely the most talked about film in last 4-5 months. Be it for its magnanimous trailer, constant controversies associated with it, ban from different states or its release date, the movie is the favorite topic for Indians today.
Well, the troubles are mostly over for Padmaavat as it has got a solo release on 25th January. Akshay Kumar has postponed the release of his Padman on 9th February. It’s a great gesture from Akshay as he knows Padmaavat has a big budget and it needs a solo release to recover its costs.
With a solo release, Padmaavat will be getting 4500+ screens in India and a big Republic Day holiday advantage. This is exactly what’s needed for this grand movie. Now, the most important question, how big will Padmaavat go?
The trailer of Padmaavat was massively loved by the audience. The cast of Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Leela Bhansali directing it are more than enough reasons for the movie to get a massive buzz.
Even with so much controversy, Padmaavat is still the most appealing movie for the audience. It has 4 days of extended weekend and there is the Republic Day holiday on 26th so it will be easily touching or crossing the 100 crore milestone in its opening weekend itself. Afterwards, it will be having 2 open weeks till 9th February to collect as much as it can.
SLB’s last film Bajirao Mastani had won everyone’s hearts and it went on to collect 184 crore. If Padmaavat gets great reviews from critics and the crowd gives it a thumbs up, it can cross the 200 crore mark as well. It also has a big budget so collecting such amount is a necessity for it. Padmaavat will be the first film to cross the 200 crore mark in 2018 and it will be a huge start for Bollywood.
