Vidya Balan’s film ‘Begum Jaan‘ is declared tax-free in Jharkhand. The film has been primarily shot there so the Chief Minister of Jharkhand took the decision to make the movie tax-free in the state.
Moreover, the Government of Jharkhand also awarded a subsidy of 2 crore towards the cost of production of Begum Jaan. This is a good news for Vishesh Films, the makers of the movie as the footfalls in the state will definitely increase by this decision.
Begum Jaan is a story of a brothel madam during the 1947 period, who fought to keep her house by fighting against the government officials. The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Illa Arun, Ashish Vidyarthi and Gauhar Khan.
Begum Jaan is an official remake of Bengali film Rajkahini in which Rituparna Sengupta was the lead. Begum Jaan is directed by Srijit Mukherji and it is releasing on 14th April, 2017.
