Sohum Shah starrer horror film Tumbbad is winning the audience at the box office. Ever since its trailer was unveiled, it has garnered a good amount of buzz and it was evident in theaters too. Although the numbers are not great, considering its buzz, this is a good news for the makers.
Tumbbad took a slow start on its opening day and collected 65 lakhs. It got amazing reviews and the crowd was giving it a huge positive recommendations which ensured there was a significant growth on Saturday and this film collected 1.15 crore on 2nd day. Sunday also saw a good trending and minted 1.45 crore.
The total of Tumbbad is now 3.25 crore. It will need to show a strong momentum in weekdays to reach a decent lifetime total. It doesn’t have much competition as other new releases are not doing well and horror has always been Indian’s favorite genre to watch in theaters.
Kajol’s Helicopter Eela has collected approximately 3.30 crore in its opening weekend. The movie had a good promotion but it has not really minted the numbers which you would expect from a Kajol starrer.
Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma’s Sui Dhaaga has also gone down now and its total is 77.50 crore. It may not touch the 80 crore mark. This Sharat Kataria directorial is one of the most profitable films of 2018. New releases Jalebi and FryDay have not earned much; their earning is below 2 crore.
