Who would have thought Salman Khan’s film, which normally touches the 300 crore mark, will disappoint at box office and won’t even cross the 130 crore line. Sadly, that has happened with his latest film Tubelight. Already a flop, the movie has absolutely failed to connect with audience, witness any growth or collect a handsome amount.
One can argue that 115+ crore is still a strong total but Tubelight’s budget was high and it needed to collect more than 200 crore to recover the costs. Producers have made a lot of money but distributors and exhibitors have lost much. A film can be called profitable only when all the stakeholders make money.
Tubelight is in its 2nd week and it could be its last week. On its 2nd Tuesday, it brought in approximately 1.20 crore, making its 12 days total around 117.50 crore. There is a very low occupancy for its shows which is very rare for a Salman Khan film.
Despite releasing in Eid holiday, Tubelight couldn’t attract the audience and its story also didn’t connect with the crowd. One expects massive business from his films.
Tubelight will take a lifetime total of 122-124 crore. In overseas markets too, it is not earning in decent amounts. This is a forgettable film for Salman and Kabir Khan. Tubelight also stars Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu, Om Puri, Matrin Rey Tangu and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayub.
