This is a very rare situation but it’s happening. Tubelight is turning out to be the weakest movie of Salman Khan in recent years as it has not shown growth on Eid holiday, the festive time during which Salman’s films have done the maximum business in last 6-7 years.
Tubelight could only manage to collect 19.09 crore on its 1st Monday which was an Eid holiday. The numbers are less than its Sunday earnings (22.45 crore) and this has sealed the fate of the film which is disappointing. The total of Tubelight in 4 days is 83.86 crore.
Here are Tubelight’s Box Office Collections:
Friday – 21.15 crore
Saturday – 21.17 crore
Sunday – 22.45 crore
Monday (Eid) – 19.09 crore
Total Collections – 83.86 crore
Many of Salman’s previous films have crossed the 100 crore mark in it opening weekend but Tubelight is falling short. The occupancy and footfalls in mornings shows for Monday were very average. It did witness a rise in evening shows but that was not consistent across all the regions of India. North India showed a decent response but not the rest.
With poor reviews and negative word of mouth, Tubelight is finding it hard to attract the crowd. It was expected that the emotional content of the film won’t see a big response but such numbers were never anticipated. This is the first time Salman’s film has not shown a rise on Eid holiday and also, not a single day of Tubelight has minted 30 crore at box office so far.
Eid was the last hope for Tubelight to collect the best figures. Now, weekdays will be testing it big time. 200 crore is highly difficult now for the movie. The distributors will be losing a lot of money with such earning pattern.
Tubelight is directed by Kabir Khan and it also stars Sohail Khan, Matin Rey Tangu, Zhu Zhu, Om Puri and Mohammad Zeeshan Auyb.
