The advance booking for Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha started from Wednesday night. Being a big film with a solo release, it was expected that the advance booking for the movie would be opening on Tuesday itself but it didn’t happen.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is opening in around 3000 screens in India which is a strong number. The shows are starting as early as 8 o’clock in the morning. Good thing for TEPK is that it is a mass population film so it has also got a good number of shows in single screens theaters.
So far, the advance booking Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is dull. The audience’s interest level is not looking much decent. The booking percentage is only 10-15%. The film has got around 12-15 shows in multiplexes. After the debacles of Jab Harry Met Sejal, Tubelight and Jagga Jasoss, the audience has become very selective on which film the money should be spent.
Cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune are still not showing a strong response in bookings. One can hope that this booking will improve by tomorrow morning. What we have seen in last few months is that advance booking is not really happening strongly for most of the Bollywood movies. With the exception of Baahubali 2, almost every film has has witnessed a low booking before the release.
With such fill rate pre-release, the occupancy for Toilet: Ek Prem Katha can be around 30-35% on its 1st day. Being a content driven film, it will need good reviews to sustain and grow over the weekend. Bollywood is going through a tough period and trade is hoping Toilet: Ek Prem Katha might take it out of that bad phase.
