It was feared that Aamir Khan starrer Thugs Of Hindostan will be witnessing a drop on 2nd day but this drop is more than usual and it is a worry for the makers. After a big national holiday of Diwali, which minted 52 crore, trade was expecting a normal drop of 20-25% but Thugs Of Hindostan is seeing a drop of almost 45-50%.
Thugs Of Hindostan has collected 28.25 crore from its 2nd day at the box office. Its occupancy for 2nd day was around 55% which is not healthy for a solo release on Diwali festival. The film has got negative reviews from critics and audience too, has not given a positive word of mouth to it.
It if continues like this, then it is all downhill from here. Thugs Of Hindostan’s 2 day total is now 81.50 crore. Trade would have expected it to close in on 100 crore mark in 2 days but when the crowd is not accepting the movie, there’s nothing anyone can do.
There are still 2 more big days for this Diwali release but now, it will need to show some sustenance over the weekend, otherwise it is extremely difficult for it to get a handsome lifetime total. With such a big budget, Thugs Of Hindostan will find it hard now to recover its costs.
TOH has got 5000 screens in India. Now, even single screens are showing a declined response which were the major performers on Day 1. Multiplexes are seeing reduced footfalls and it may continue today and tomorrow as well. This is a rare situation for an Aamir Khan starrer whose films have always broken box office records and have created history over the years.
It is strange to witness the earning pattern of Thugs Of Hindostan. On its 1st day, it become the highest opening day movie of Bollywood of all time, and now, it is finding it hard to get housefull shows. Although TOH doesn’t have any competition at the box office, less footfalls is its biggest threat now.
Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Thugs Of Hindostan also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
