Writer-director Shashank Khaitan says that shows like ‘Sacred Games’ make him want to become a part of the digital platform. He is currently in a process of developing a story for the same. Khaitan interacted with media at the special interactive session at the MAMI film festival in Mumbai on Monday.
When asked about his plans to turn to the digital medium and directing a series, he said, “I don’t know about directing yet but we are trying to develop a show. We have hired a writer and we are working with him to develop a story for a show. We haven’t finalized anything about it, not even the platform.”
“There are so many amazing shows out there like ‘Sacred Games’ that it makes me feel like I want to be a part of it too. So we are making an effort. Lets see how successful it turns out.”
Shashank was one of the speakers of “Film schools: Education vs reality”, a session that talked about breaking the industry myths and preconceived notions of newcomers.
When asked to comment on the rumors about him working with Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor on his upcoming project, he said, “Varun is definitely part of the project. I am still writing the film, there isn’t much to talk about it. Since I don’t even have a screenplay ready. There are many actresses in my dream list and Janhvi is one of the actresses.”
“But it would be unfair for me to say she (Janhvi) is on board because she hasn’t read the script. I would want her to read it and like her character before she says yes. Dhadak has been a big hit and she has become a big star now. It could be possible that she says no to the script (laughs).”
Talking about the upcoming project, he said, ‘It is an action entertainer and we are trying to develop characters and a story that could turn into a franchise. It is too early to talk but it is something new for me, Varun and Dharma and we are all excited about it.”
Shashank’s last directorial release was ‘Dhadak’, an adaptation of Marathi blockbuster ‘Sairat’.
