Who knew a back dancer will become an actor in Bollywood and that too, doing some unique roles with his honest performances and give us the cinematic joy? Yes. we are talking about Shahid Kapoor.

Throughout his career, Shahid has given some amazing roles. It’s the combination of his charm and deep acting potential which made his films critically acclaimed.

Started as a chocolate boy through his first film as a lead actor in ‘Ishq Vishq’, Shahid never stopped; he kept improvising with his movie choices and more than box office, he was highly focused on the script and the uniqueness of the role. Over the years, the actor has given some distinct performances which grabbed the attention of film community and critics.

Here are Shahid Kapoor’s Critically Acclaimed Performances:

Shahid’s association with director Vishal Bhardwaj is a grand highlight of his career. Haider was a hard-hitting film set amidst the insurgency hit 1995’s Kashmir conflicts. Shahid aka Haider was a troubled youth who is searching for his father who disappeared. His transition from an innocent person to that weird unstable character showed Shahid’s talent as an actor. His expression, eyes and that anger lifted the film to a great level.

Who doesn’t remember one of the most romantic films of Bollywood? Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Jab We Met create a new benchmark in this genre. Shahid as a highly rich frustrated businessman Aditya gives up everything and runs away from his problems only to meet Kareena aka Geet. Their crazy fun on the road, Shahid’s learning from Geet’s careless life, falling in love and finally, their love story, all these were so joyful and sweet and realistic, isn’t it? Shahid successfully managed to deliver the role of a silent and matured person in the film.

Udta Punjab

A film on Punjab’s drug problems, Udta Punjab was yet another brilliant role of Shahid. A rockstar Tommy Singh with ever addicted to drugs and full on insane personality, Shahid was top notch in the film. The portrayal of a junkie, his fun, problems associated with it and then his redemption out of it was funny as well as effective. This is how any actor should go deep into the character and put that honesty into the role.

Kaminey

‘Main fa ko fa bolta hu’ – Shahid Kapoor’s this dialogue from the gruesomely stylish ‘Kaminey’ made huge waves when it was released in 2009. Shahid had a double role in this Vishal Bhardwaj’s film, one is of bad-ass Charlie while other of a decent guy Guddu. Both the roles made this film a dark horse in Shahid’s career as he excelled in enacting both these roles efficaciously. His long haired look and ultra muscular physique won everyone’s hearts.

Rangoon

Shahid’s Rangoon was a love triangle in times of war, set in 1945. His character of Nawab Malik was silently powerful. Nawab was strong, tough and slowly falls in love with Julia (Kangana Ranaut) and their love becoming was heavy. Also, Nawab’s fight for his country, freedom and his bravery was expertly acted by Shahid. Despite not working at box office, it made quite a good impression in film community and in the minds of critics.

Shahid Kapoor’s roles in Padmaavat, Ishq Vishq, R… Rajkumar were also loved but the names above were some of his defining movies. We are pretty sure Shahid Kapoor will continue to give more phenomenal performances and we are looking forward to it.
