Shah Rukh Khan, who is gearing up for the release of ‘Zero‘, says he wanted to become a teacher more than actor and now wants to contribute to the field of education. The superstar was in conversation with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at ‘Mumbai 2.0’ on Sunday.

During the conversation, the ‘Zero’ actor said that other than acting he is very interested in the field of education. He confessed he would have loved to become a teacher.

“Since childhood, I used to love teachers and I wanted to become more of a teacher than an actor. And I think that now I have a chance to at least in my field I should create something that could spread video literacy. With social media, media has become platform then television and films. Whether it was Indian films or even international television. I think social media is making everybody media savvy and I feel like we still lack in video literacy.”

Shah Rukh is of the opinion even if as a country and culture, we are very talkative and believe in the word of mouth we heavily lack in video literacy causing undue influences of the young generation.

“Now that everything is available on the internet I think video literacy is important to understand and separate the bad things. Since media and video with my medium, if I can support and develop the education medium through this field, I will be able to give back the city of Mumbai for the love and support I have received all these years,” he added.

Khan is highly interested in creating an archive center for the preservation of films and the city’s history which will also serve as an education center for kids. He said, “I believe in archiving the memories of our culture and our city. I wish to create an archival center which will be able to double up as a digital content for kids. I think over time we lose our culture and history.”

“Film is a very impermanent medium but with the digital amenities, we will be able to retain it learn from it and I personally believe we have the best stories to be told so we should keep them alive. I think it is not about remixing a sound but about representing our culture and where we came from to the new generation. I think all stories are going to be the best stories in the world.”

“Zero” is a romantic drama written by Himanshu Sharma and directed by Anand L Rai. The film stars, Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in lead roles. It will release on 21st December. The new song ‘Isaaqbaazi’ from the film will be out tomorrow.
