Bollywood is like big family and everyone looks out each other when things go south. The latest example of it is megastar Salman Khan returning 32.50 crore to the distributors of Tubelight, to compensate for their losses.
Earlier, we had reported that Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan had decided to compensate for the losses exhibitors suffered from the movie Tubelight. The exact date was not confirmed and also, the movie was still running in India and in overseas.
Salman was also busy shooting for Tiger Zinda Hai in Abu Dhabi but he came back in Mumbai and on Wednesday, he reportedly returned 32.50 crore.
This is a good decision and shows Salman’s generosity and appreciation to distributors, It increases the trust between each other and helps the cinema fraternity grow.
This amount is half of what losses distributors suffered. Tubelight was a massive failure at box office and it came as a surprise to everyone. Salman Khan’s movies go on to collect 300 crore during their lifetime run but Tubelight couldn’t even cross the 120 crore mark.
Post Baahubali 2, not a single movie of a big star has minted decent money. From Half Girlfriend, Jagga Jasoos, Munna Michael to Jab Harry Met Sejal, every single movie is a flop. This is tough time for Bollywood.
