Ranveer Singh will be the Biggest Star in coming days: Rohit Shetty on Simmba

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who is busy shooting for his forthcoming film ‘Simmba’ has said that Ranveer Singh will be the biggest star of Hindi film industry in coming days. Shetty was interacting with media at Jagran Cinema Summit 2018 on Friday in Mumbai.

Sharing his experience working with Ranveer Singh in ‘Simmba’ for the first time, Rohit said, “I am having best time working with him and the kind of energy he brings and the kind of sincerity he has is amazing. I am happy that I am presenting him as Ranveer Singh. He is not Khilji (Padmavaat) or Bajirao (Bajirao Mastani). He is playing a mainstream hero for the first time. He is doing action and songs in film and he is enjoying every bit of it. When we are shooting dramatic scene that time, he is like a kid who is hyper-active. He is a sincere boy. He can do comedy, action and dance. He will be the biggest star in the coming days because the kind of sincerity he has and the kind of actor he is.”

Talking about giving message through his films, Rohit said, “Although Simmba is a remake, we have turned the whole script to something else. I think ‘Simmba’ has a strong message though it is presented as a commercial film but I think it’s the best written film of mine till date. Now, let the audience see and decide.”

When asked whether release of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Zero’ (21st December) will affect the business of ‘Simmba’, he said, “Actually we were coming on the same day, then me, Karan (Johar) and Shah Rukh sat and decided that let’s not come together because business of both film will get harm. So, we shifted ‘Simmba’ to 28th December. It’s not like a competition between us. It was more of a mutual kind of thing between us and I think if your film is good, it will run, irrespective of any release date.”

Ranveer will play a rowdy policeman in ‘Simmba’. It also stars Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood. Helmed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Karan Johar and Reliance Entertainment, ‘Simmba’ is scheduled to hit screen on December 28.
