Shahid Kapoor’s Rangoon is not showing healthy signs at box office. After a slow opening on Friday, it has simply failed to pick up pace on Saturday. The film had collected 6.07 crore on its 1st day.
Rangoon has collected in the range 6-7 crore on its 2nd day which is not impressive as the earnings were expected in the range 7.5-9 crore to get a strong opening weekend. The audience has not given a thumbs up and turned their backs to this film.
The total of Rangoon is now around 13 crore. It will touch the 20 crore mark by the end of 1st weekend. This Vishal Bhardwaj directorial has received average reviews from critics. The film was expected to do a fair box office business as it had three big stars with good fan following, i.e. Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan.
The fact that Rangoon is based in the period of 1945 with a war narrative, its cost is high so the film was needed to have a strong start to recover its costs. The weekdays won’t see any significant addition in collections. Rangoon is a love triangle in times of war.
