This is what is called a box office phenomenon. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s periodic grand movie Padmaavat is making record breaking collections in its extended opening weekend. It has already crossed the 110 crore mark. Without Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, the movie has done such massive earnings which proves its dominance.
Padmaavat could easily have crossed the 150 crore line had it got the full fledged release but this is still a celebratory number to gain. On Sunday, this flick again witnessed a rise and it collected 31 crore to make its opening weekend total 114 crore.
From its paid previews on Wednesday, the buzz for Padmaavat was sky high and it was clear when it released on 25th January. South India has been exceptional, followed by Mumbai. Delhi, UP and Bihar are also doing great business.
Here are Padmaavat’s Extended Opening Weekend Collections:
Paid Previews – 5 crore
Thursday – 19 crore
Friday – 32 crore
Saturday – 27 crore
Sunday – 31 crore
Total: 114 crore
Now, the weekdays have started from today. This is a crucial phase for Padmaavat. It needs to show a strong momentum to keep going and sustain. A 9-10 Crore earning range will be fine for it to recover its costs and there is also the 2nd weekend to boost its earnings.
200 Crore mark will have to be crossed for it to recover its costs. It stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
