Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat is finally releasing from 25th January with more than 4000 screens. It also has paid previews going on from today evening. The movie is witnessing a very strange pattern in its advance booking. As everyone knows, there are heavy protests going on against the movie which is dominant in states like Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. This is creating a dilemma for audience whether it is safe to go to theaters to watch Padmaavat.
Padmaavat has got around 30-35% advance booking overall but it is not really an accurate depiction as the data is drawn only from the states where the movie has a complete safe scenario to release. Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal and South India are showing it a good response in advance booking. In some regions, the shows are starting as early as 7 am.
It still remains to be seen what happens in Rajasthan, Gujarat and some states. Due to the protests, advance booking is affected in those regions. From Thursday, Padmaavat is releasing full fledged and it has already garnered epic attention, be it from its trailer or from controversies. It is expected to grab in record breaking opening day and opening weekend which can even be the highest for Republic Day weekend.
From media screenings and paid previews, the reviews for Padmaavat are highly positive so it has a great road ahead. 20+ crore is on the cards for its 1st day. Police security has been increased outside and inside the theaters which will encourage the audience to show massive footfalls for Padmaavat.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
