Plenty of releases this week for Bollywood: A Gentleman, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, Sniff, Qaidi Band. Plus, there are two Hollywood releases too, The Dark Tower and The Hitman’s Bodyguard. But, none of them are actually witnessing any decent response. The theaters are running with minimal occupancy.
The big release out of these films is A Gentleman but even that is showing an occupancy of 15% in its morning shows on 1st day. It was expected to open better as youngsters give a good footfall to action movies and Sidharth-Jacqueline have a good fan following in youngsters but the early response for the film is quite weak.
The afternoon and evening shows’ booking is also dull so the improvement is not going to be big by the end of the day. Early reviews for A Gentleman are average to poor. This is a concerning sign for the movie.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has also witnessed a dismal fill rate. It is witnessing an occupancy of around 8-10%. However, this Kushan Nandy directorial is a content driven movie so this kind of early response is normal as it will grow by evening and in weekend if its reviews and word of mouth are favorable.
Other films Qaidi Band, Sniff, The Dark Tower and The Hitman’s Bodyguard are not showing much crowd in theaters. Sniff might see some interest on Saturday and Sunday as it is a kids’ film so families might try it out.
