After the mega release of Tubelight last month, Bollywood saw two new releases this Friday, Mom and Guest iin London. In terms of buzz, both the films are only decent but Mom is definitely a bigger film of the two.
Sridevi’s Mom has collected 2.90 crore on its 1st day. With 1350 screens in India, the occupancy for the film in morning shows was average but the footfalls improved in evening shows. In overseas markets, it collected $3,40,000 (2.20 crore). Sridevi’s last film English Vinglish was highly appreciated so the movie buffs were naturally excited to watch this thriller.
The reviews for Mom are good to mixed but the audience seems to enjoying its suspense narrative. It is carrying a positive word of mouth so the growth over the weekend is on the cards. Also, the cast of Sridevi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna is credible for the crowd.
Paresh Rawal and Kartik Aaryana starrer Guest iin London is not showing a good response in theaters. Its buzz was already low and even the reviews for it are not good. It has managed to bring in around 1.30 crore on its opening day.
Guest iin London has not got decent screens and with not so much awareness, it will be hard for it to grow on Saturday and Sunday.
Also, Hollywood film Spider-Man: Homecoming is out-earning both the Bollywood films. It has got a good number of screens, shows with 3D and Hindi-English languages.
