It is expected that this week’s releases Lucknow Central and Simran will at least do better business than the previous ones Poster Boys and Daddy. Both the movies are content driven so the slow start was obvious at box office on opening day but let’s hope the scenario will change over the weekend positively.
Farhan Akhtar’s Lucknow Central took a gradual opening in theaters. Although the trailer and songs were received well, the buzz for it was not high. The morning occupancy for the movie was also low. However, it did pick up decently in evening and night shows.
Lucknow Central has collected 2.04 crore on its 1st day. The reviews for it are mixed so it still remains to be seen how much does it grow today and tomorrow. The movie is about a prison escape by a group of prisoners who form a musical band.
Kangana Ranaut’s Simran is another release of the week. Simran has collected 2.77 crore on its 1st Friday. The multiplex crowd came in good numbers for the movie as the day progressed.
Simran also had witnessed a dull start in morning shows which is a usual pattern for content driven movies which grow after they get good reviews and positive word of mouth. Simran’s reviews from critics are also mixed so it will be hard for it to grow with strong numbers over the weekend and sustain in weekdays.
However, Kangana Ranaut has a good fan following which might change the things in her favor but nothing can be predicted as of now. Simran is directed by Hansal Mehta.
