Badhaai Ho is in Superb Form; Namaste England is down – 2nd Day Box Office

Family entertainer Badhaai Ho has grown superbly on its 2nd day and has ensured that it is going to dominate the box office for this week. After a very good start on Thursday, it collected in double digits on Friday and enjoyed the partial holiday. It has neared the 20 crore mark now.

Badhaai Ho had collected 7.29 crore and it witnessed a huge jump on Friday by collecting 11.67 crore. This is a great trending for the film. Its total is now 18.96 crore. This Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra starrer saw 70+ % occupancy for its shows across the country.

With highly positive reviews and audience’s word of mouth, it has taken over the box office and the footfalls from families are unstoppable. It is a sure shot hit film in coming days. Now, it is going to witness even higher numbers today and tomorrow. 40+ crore opening weekend is on the cards and 50 crore mark will be crossed in no time.

Ayushmann Khurrana is having an outstanding time as his AndhaDhun and Badhaai Ho both are doing really good business. Content films doing well is always a great sight to see. Audience has loved the performance of Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta too.

Ayushmann Khurrana is riding high on the success of his recent films and why shouldn’t he? He is one of leading actors who has always chosen unique and off-beat scripts-topics even when it was not profitable and today, audience has started showing incredible love for such movies. With AndhaDhun and Badhaai Ho becoming audience favorites, Ayushmann Khurrana is having an October fest.

Sriram Raghavan directorial AndhaDhun released on 5th October and it took the movie community by storm. Its mystery, brilliant execution, suspenseful narrative and constant twists made the movie one of the best of 2018. Ayushmann was again the lead actor of this unique film.

AndhaDhun thrashed the competition and dominated the box office. It has now crossed the 50 crore mark at the box office and this is the first time Ayushmann Khurrana has entered the 50 crore club. This is actually a big achievement when an actor, only with his honest performance and good story, manages this feat.

In the last couple of years, the Indian movie community has realized the power of good stories and it has started giving them good footfalls due to which the filmmakers and actors are choosing good scripts rather than star oriented entertainment idiotism.

Ayushmann’s 2nd release of October, Badhaai Ho is also doing a strong business. On its opening day, it has collected 7.29 crore and it rose on Friday too, its total so far is 18 crore in 2 days. It still has 2 big days in its extended opening weekend so 40 crore opening weekend is a sure shot possibility.

Badhaai Ho can even surpass AndhaDhun’s lifetime collections if it shows a constant momentum. This is a celebration time for Ayushmann whose honest and genuine hardwork is paying off beautifully. Let’s hope he keeps giving us such films in future too.

‘Golmaal Movies’ Ranked: From Best to Worst

‘Golmaal Movies’ Ranked: From Best to Worst

The becoming of movie franchise always has a successful beginning with its first part; that’s how the series expands. Audience loves it so film-makers avail that enthusiasm and keep exploring new horizons with that concept and continue to make more addition to the franchise. Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal series has become that top movie franchise over the years which has constantly entertained and kept us laughing with its uniquely funny narratives.

It all began in 2006 when the first installment of this series Golmaal: Fun Unlimited hit the theaters. With the latest Golmaal Again in 2017, there have been 4 films in the series and it is one of the biggest franchises of Bollywood. The team of Rohit Shetty-Ajay Devgn-Arshad Warsi-Tusshar Kapoor-Shreyas Talpade-Kunal Kemmu has worked wonders and created a magic on screen which audience can’t get enough of.

On that occasion, we rank all the Golmaal movies of Rohit Shetty, from Best to Worst.

Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006)

The first part is always the best, isn’t it? Golmaal: Fun Unlimited was a genius in the making and it was absolutely a laughter ride. It was this film which planted the seed of quality entertainment which went on to become a comedy giant series, still amusing the Indian crowd.

The gang of Gopal, Madhav, Laxman and Lucky enters the house of an old couple Somanth and Mangala who is blind and all the chaotic fun starts there. The hilarious banter among these four, Madhav, Laxman and Lucky’s failed plans to take Gopal out of their lives, Somnath’s tickling conversations with this gang at his residence and then, the addition of weirdly amazing characters of Wasooli Bhai, Babli Bhai, Sattu Supari and the girl in the gang’s lives – Nirali, all this make up for an experience that in unforgettable and worth revisiting many times.

The dialogues and scenes like ‘Kabhi gang wang dekha hai?’ ‘Harishchandra Ramchandra Mirchandani ‘HaRaMi’, ‘Sameer – Choti Chaddi Pehanta Tha….Badi Shararat Karta Tha’, ‘Pandu’s snake avatar’, ‘Vasooli Bhai’s Sanjay Dutt idolism’ and the best one, ‘Lagta hai baraf padne wali hai’, are the reasons why Golmaal: Fun Unlimited is the best one from this lot and also, one of the best comedy films of Bollywood. This is also the film which defined Rohit Shetty’s early career and hinted towards his superior capability as an entertaining director.

Golmaal 3 (2010)

Golmaal 3 instilled a fresh breath of air in this franchise when the 2nd part didn’t really work well. A different story and a hilarious narrative again made the audience believe that Golmaal series is very much effective and kicking the right tickling bones.

This time, it was the fight between two groups: One was Pritam’s good for nothing sons Madhav, Laxman and Lucky and other was Geeta’s children Gopal and Laxman. There is also Daboo, who has a secret crush on Gopal. Pritam and Geeta were lovers in their young age but couldn’t marry and now, they are again thrown back into their romantic lives in old age. Daboo helps them get together but this will change the entire lives of these 5 brothers and that’s where the whole entertainment awaits in Golmaal 3.

Golmaal 3’s writing was very funny and it added some of the best punches you can watch in recent times. The scenes of Ajay Devgn aka Gopal’s Ungli moment, the highly amazing fight scenes between these two groups of brothers, especially the one in court when Gopal loses his cool and other one where they tease each other with abuses of hand signs and with different objects.

That scene of Pritam (Mithun Chakraborty) with Prem Chopra was classic from the movie. ‘Phate mohabbat ki hai’, ‘Jinke ghar sheeshe ke hote hain… wo kapde basement mein badalte hain’ are engaging dialogues. Johny Lever’s Pappi Boss actually stole the show with his comic timing. He keeps forgetting things and it made the movie a top notch entertainer. This also made everyone realize why Johny Lever is one of the best comedy actors we have in Bollywood. Oh, did we mention Sanjay Mishra’s ‘DDLJ Diwali’ and ‘PUC Please’ moments?

Golmaal 3 certainly created lots of joyful moments and it had all the elements to keep you hilariously hooked: laughter, romance, action and suspense. The big Diwali package.

Golmaal Again (2017)

The latest film in the franchise, Golmaal Again has kept tradition of making people laugh like crazy alive. It was worthy of a big Diwali release. The gang of Gopal, Madhav, Laxman-Laxman and Lucky are now orphans and this time, it’s not just a comedy but a horror comedy, the genre Bollywood has not explored much.

Rohit Shetty again gives fresh set of jokes which are ticklish and are filled with uncontrollable laughter. The fights between these gang members, the addition of ghost and its fun with these people are highly enjoyable. Golmaal Again does have a few drawbacks. It feels lengthy after a while and the angle of ghost’s background story consumes a lot of time in the second half which dilutes the focus of core comedy. That’s why it doesn’t reach the comic effectiveness of Golmaal: Fun Unlimited and Golmaal 3.

However, the pure exciting chemistry between Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu and Tusshar Kapoor works its magic on screen once again and it makes Golmaal Again a delight to watch. Moreover, getting a hilarious treatment while also getting a ghost story is a unique experience offered by Rohit Shetty.

Golmaal Returns (2008)

The weakest and worst film from franchise, Golmaal Returns didn’t have any memorable stuff going on with it. Its story, writing and all the characters failed to entice and most importantly, failed to make anyone laugh.

Gopal is married to Ekta, who is a television drama obsessed wife and constantly takes doubt on Gopal as if he is cheating on her, which he is not. One night, he saves a girl from some goons. With some unforeseeable context, they spend the night on Gopal’s yacht. On the same night, Gopal had fought with one of his colleague and now, he is dead. All these things create tension in his life.

The scenario of Gopal-Ekta, Gopal-Madhav and Gopal-Laxman, all these felt dis-interesting. The spark and core enjoyment that was evident in first part and also, the third film, was hugely lacking in Golmaal Returns.

Let’s hope, we will get to watch more films in this Golmaal franchise and we laugh out loud.

Yash Raj Films’ Thugs of Hindostan is the most awaited release from Bollywood in a long time. It is the biggest visual spectacle on the big screen that boasts of larger than life, never seen before cinematic experience for audiences this Diwali. Having pulled off an incredible casting coup by bringing together two of the biggest legends of Indian cinema – Amitabh Bachchan (who plays the role of the fierce warrior Khudabaksh) and Aamir Khan (the wily and not to be trusted Firangi) on screen for the first time, this film is the biggest release that Bollywood has ever seen.

The film boasts of jaw-dropping action sequences that have been pulled off by both Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan. They had to go through rigorous action training before they shot the intricate and exhaustive action sequences.

Amitabh Bachchan says, “So much before we actually went through these sequences, Viktor and Adi had said maybe you should train a bit. So, we are doing a lot of sword moments in the gym. There is a lot of action whether it is jumping off a building, doing somersaults, diving, climbing up. These were all done live. If you have committed yourself to a project then I guess you have to put aside all apprehensions and challenges and do what is been asked to do.”

Aamir Khan says, “Just before I did Thugs, I did Dangal. Two of us (Fatima and I) were training for a year and a half in wrestling, and in wrestling the stance is very low.  You bend at the waist and you stand as low as possible. So instinctively, I use to stand low, so they had to try and get that out of me. A lot of initial training went into boxing, kicking, rolling, sword fighting. A lot of that was done which gave us a good foundation for this kind of a film.”

The film also stars Katrina Kaif as the gorgeous performer Suraiyya and Fatima Sana Shaikh as the daredevil Zafira. YRF’s mega action entertainer, Thugs of Hindostan, is set to release on November 8, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
