China is the 2nd largest market in the world but Indian films didn’t really capitalized on it until Aamir Khan started the trend. Since last 5-6 years, it’s only Aamir’s films which have done a strong business in China.
With Dangal‘s phenomenal business of 1200+ crore there, Indian films will definitely start targeting this enormous market. Not to anyone’s surprise, 4 out of top 5 Indian films in China are all Aamir Khan’s films. He is the most popular Indian actor there.
Dangal tops the list of highest grossing Indian films in China. It is also the highest grossing non-Hollywood movie in China. All these things are stating that we should target global box office to expand the reach of our cinema.
Salman Khan has now also entered the Chinese market with his film Bajrangi Bhaijaan which has crossed the 200 crore mark there. This is a great achievement and we hope more and more Bollywood films get released there.
After Dangal, Secret Superstar grabs the 2nd spot, followed by Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which has beaten PK and Dhoom 3.
Here is the list of Highest Grossing Indian Movies in China:
Dangal: 1220 crore
Secret Superstar: 736 crore
Bajrangi Bhaijaan: 295 crore
