This is how you make a trailer of a film which is narrating an inspirational story. One of the most awaited films of the year and even bigger due to the lead actor Aamir Khan, Dangal trailer is sheer interesting.
Starts off with Aamir Khan as a younger Mahavir Singh Phogat wrestling and within seconds, the scene is cut to his older days where he awaits his wife to deliver a son so that he can win the gold medal for his country. It shows how we, as a society, are still living in a misconception that only sons can win the medals and not daughters. I loved that the makers didn’t try to emphasize on Aamir Khan’s wrestling character but focused more on Phogat’s daughters and how they were nurtured as fine wrestlers by their father.
The trailer impresses with those Haryanvi girls wrestling and fighting like a live-wire. You can see the hard work they have done to make these characters look real without any glamour or filmy gimmick. Aamir Khan is called Perfectionist for a reason. He is looking strong as a father and his intense expressions are hinting towards a brilliant performance. Moreover, his Haryanvi accent is perfect. Sakshi Tanwar might have got a role of a lifetime. She is looking confident and can work wonders with her supporting role in the film.
Dangal trailer also gives hard hitting dialogues such as, “Bahut ho gayi pehelwani, ab dangal hoga”, “Misaalein di jaati hain beta, bhuli nahi jaati” and “Maari chhoriyaan chhoron se kam hai ke?” which are potent. Add to that, the powerful vocals of Daler Mehendi.
Now, it all boils down to how this inspirational story is executed by director Nitesh Tiwari. So far I loved Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir Khan), Geeta and Babita Kumari’s characters where they are super honest and this is a biopic that is staying true to the story and is not trying to be an entertainer. Dangal is showing a deep rooted wrestling culture of India in a genuine way and can reach cinematic landmarks due to its honesty.
