Dangal Music Review

Aamir Khan’s highly awaited film Dangal is releasing on 23rd December. The film is expected to break many box office records just like its trailer did on social media. Dangal is a biopic on Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trained his daughters Geeta and Babita to become the world class wrestlers. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari.

Here is our Music Review on Dangal:

Music Director: Pritam

Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya

Rating: 3.5/5 stars

Haanikaarak Bapu

Haanikaarak Bapu is an engaging track with thoroughly entertaining lyrics. Music director Pritam understood the core of this song’s intention. It is a fully enjoyable song with Sarwar Khan & Sartaz Khan Barna’s crooning. It has a playful background score. Kids getting frustrated by their dad’s forced discipline is funnily portrayed here. Amitabh Bhattacharya does wonders with words like ‘Yo toh torture be ghana’, ‘Tujhse behtar apne Hindi filmon ke khalnayak hain’ and ‘Bagambo’. The song maintains the momentum from start till the end.

Dhaakad is much better as a video so in the film, it is going to make a huge impact. As a song, it is good but it has a monotonous feel. Dhaakad’s music doesn’t change much except during ‘Aisi Dhaakad hai’ wordings. Raftaar’s voice is full of desi swag and his rapping is energetic. Overall, it’s a decent song but that’s it. Nothing more than that. Pritam should have used variety of beats throughout the song.

Dhaakad Aamir Khan Version:

Aamir Khan’s version was needless for Dhaakad. His voice doesn’t make equal impact as that of Raftaar.

Dangal’s album is full of wrestling aggression, energy and swag and there comes this song which calms everyone. Gilehriyaan is a beautiful track to listen. Amitabh has written pleasant lyrics. Jonita Gandhi’s crooning is serene and sweet and brings a smile in the atmosphere. Pritam gives good beats to this song.

Dangal title track is as inspiring as a song can get. This is one the best lyrics written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. ‘Ma ke pet se marghat tak hai teri kahani pag pag pyaare‘, ‘Bhed ki hahakaar k badle sher ki ek dahaad hai pyaare‘ and ‘Bande ki mehnat ko kismat ka sadar parnaam hai pyaare‘, this is some mind blowing writing by Amitabh. Hats off to him for giving us one of the best song-writings of this year.

Daler Mehendi’s powerful voice is enlightening.  He has sung such songs so many times and they are all powerful. The Dhol and background score by Pritam gives an Indian feel and wrestling aura. That ‘Aararara Aararara’ part is full of rush. It should have been used more by Pritam. This track inspires you to pursue your dreams. The chorus singing is also strong. This is a brilliant piece of music.

Naina is a passionate song and Arijit Singh’s voice takes it to a higher level. This track is relatable when you are passing through a difficult phase of life. It gives you a helping hand. Wonderful music by Pritam. His beats are simple yet so effective. Again, lyrics are doing an impressive trick.

Idiot Banna

Idiot Banna is a wedding song. Nooran sisters have given so many amazing songs with their unique voices but Idiot Banna ends up being an ordinary one. The track is not much interesting. Even with the Nooran sisters’ singing, it doesn’t make a strong case to listen and enjoy.

Dangal is a marvelously composed music album by Pritam. It has a variety of songs from attitude, aggression, inspiration, fun to pleasantness. This is a complete album with top notch music, songs and amazing lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
