In February, Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 took the charge of box office and it went on to become the 3rd 100 crore club movie of 2017. If one observed carefully, the trend is looking similar with Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt’s Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
Both the movies opened with 3000+ screens in India and are the solo Hindi releases of the week. The opening weekend, 1st week and 2nd week collections of BKD are on the line of Jolly LLB 2.
Jolly LLB 2 collected 77.71 crore while BKD brought in 73.66 crore in its 1st week. Moreover, Jolly LLB 2 had collected 95.44 crore till its 2nd weekend and Badrinath Ki Dulhania has minted 91.22 crore. By the ned of 2nd week, Jolly LLB 2 had minted 104.45 crore while BKD brought in 100.74 crore.
This is an amazing trend and gives a hint that even this romantic movie will look to match or surpass the lifetime total of Jolly LLB 2.
Check out the Box Office comparison between Jolly LLB 2 and Badrinath Ki Dulhania:
|Day||Jolly LLB 2||Badrinath Ki Dulhania|
|1st Week Total||77.71||73.66|
|Total after 2 Weeks||104.45||100.74|
Jolly LLB 2 had good opportunities in its further weeks as well because there were no big releases until Rangoon but Rangoon failed at box office so Jolly LLB 2 benefited even more, crossing 110 crore mark.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania is looking stable in weekdays and even it doesn’t have much competition and next big change might come on 24th March with Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri.
It will also be interesting to see whether BKD crosses the collections of Jolly LLB 2. What do you think?
