A film on the life of the greatest batsman in the history of cricket is hitting the theaters. Sachin: A Billion Dreams is definitely one of the most emotional films for Indians as the entire country is proud of the master blaster and his batting domination.
Directed by James Erskine, Sachin: A Billion Dreams has a natural buzz going on which can attract an impressive number of footfalls in theaters. Cricket is like a religion in India and Sachin Tendulkar is considered god of cricket. All the fans of Sachin will be pretty pumped to see the little master and his life on screen.
However, there are some things which might be a kind of put off for cine goers. First of all, Sachin: A Billion Dreams is a documentary so the interest level in regular movie buffs won’t be that high. India has never seen any good response for documentaries.
Last year, when Dhoni’s biopic M. S. Dhoni – The Untold Story was released, it went on to collect 130+ crore in India. But, it was a full feature film with professional actors and theatricals and songs but Sachin: A Billion Dreams is not a feature film so the massive crowd won’t be there.
But, there are still big number of fans who will be turning up for the movie and with around 2400 screens in India, it can take up an opening of 3-3.5 crore which is actually good for a documentary. There is still a surprising factor associated with the film as it can even exceed the trade expectations if fans show a big occupancy like they do for cricket matches.
