The month of September is looking pretty below average so far as apart from Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Baadshaho, none of the movies have made a mark at box office, hence no footfalls in theaters. This week, there are three new releases and still the situation is not looking any better than the previous weeks.
Bhoomi, Haseena Parkar and Newton are the 3 new releases. Sanjay Dutt’s Bhoomi is the the biggest release of them all. The movie community is excited for this revenge saga as this is the comeback film for Dutt. The trailer of Bhoomi was good and it promised a great mix of emotion and action.
The buzz for Bhoomi is decent – not great but not bad. Single screens will definitely fare better than multiplexes. Fans of Sanjay Dutt will be making crowd for the film to see their favorite star on screen after a long time. Bhoomi has also got a bigger screen share than Haseena Parkar and Newton. It can open with around 3 crore collections. If the word of mouth is positive, the earnings can take a rise.
Shraddha Kapoor’s Haseena Parkar has many demerits associated with it than the favorable aspects. Due to the constant delays in its release dates, the film has already suffered enough in its buzz. Its trailer and songs have not created any kind of interest in audience. So far, there is hardly any appeal for the project.
The opening collections of Haseena Parkar will be all due to Shraddha Kapoor’s star power but even that won’t be much as gangster genre are not working well nowadays in Bollywood. Haseena Parkar will find it difficult to go past the 1.5 crore mark on 1st day.
Rajkummar Rao is currently in supreme form with his choices of movies. In 2017. He has already given one of the best performances of his career with Trapped. He was also seen in Behen Hogi Teri and his epic act in Bareilly Ki Barfi. All these back to back brilliant aspects have created a highly credible reputation of Rajkummar Rao and he deserves it.
This is surely going to help his film Newton at box office. Newton has already garnered rave reviews from film festivals and critics. It’s a niche audience movie and will do very well in metro cities. Lately, content driven movies are getting amazing response from the Indian crowd so Newton can shine at box office with its content.
It has got lesser screens than Bhoomi and Haseena Parkar but it can hold well if audience shows interest for it. Newton can cross the 1 crore mark if everything turns out positively for it right from its first show.
