Just a few days after Pahlaj Nihalani’s removal from Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), a good news has come for the makers of Babumoshai Bandookbaaz. The movie has been cleared by Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT).
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has been cleared with only 8 minor voluntary cuts and has received ‘A’ Certificate. This means the film will be releasing in theaters in its original form, as intended by the makers.
Director Kushan Nandy shared his happiness with his fans on Twitter. He said that Pahlaj Nihalani had sent the letter to stop FCAT from giving clearance to the movie but FCAT has cleared it.
Earlier, when Nihalani was a CBFC Chief, he had suggested 48 cuts in the film with ‘A’ Certificate. He was objecting to many cuss words and some scenes but the makers were insistent that such words are necessary to keep the character and story authentic. Many filmmakers came in support for Kushan Nandy and Nawaz over the issue.
Well, this is a great news for Babumoshai Bandookbaaz. Censorship obstructs the free flow of cinema and inhibits the innovative process of film-making. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is seen as a contract killer in the film and this will be a thriller film. Directed by Kushan Nandy, it also stars Bidita Bag and is releasing on 25th August, 2017.
