Ayushmann Khurrana has become the face of content driven films that do well and he has tasted the success twice in October itself with AndhaDhun and Badhaai Ho. He said that a film has to be enjoyed and endorsed by audience for it to be a success.
‘Badhaai Ho’s opening day figures are the biggest in Ayushmann’s career. The film that released on Thursday, collected Rs 7.29 crore on Day 1 at the Indian box office and has now crossed the 30 crore mark in 3 days.
“If a film is not watched and enjoyed and endorsed by audience, it is not a success. So, the rules don’t change even if it’s a content film. Whenever I get a script in my hand, I think from the position of whether I would want to watch this film as an audience,” said the lead actor in a statement.
“I always go with my instincts and my reading of audience. So far and thankfully, more often than not, I have got the right answers. This reward is extremely gratifying for me because it teaches me that I’m choosing the right films,” Ayushmann added.
Khurrana’s career has given back to back hits like “Bareilly Ki Barfi”, “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan”, “Andhadhun” and now, “Badhaai Ho”.
Talking about his back to back hits, he added, “It is truly rare to receive so much love. As an artist, you only want to entertain people. So, this appreciation is extremely moving and empowering. It motivates me to do better work, to scout for better scripts and to be disruptive yet entertaining.”
‘Badhaai Ho’, directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma stars Neena Gupta, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Mahotra, Gajraj Rao and Sheeba Chaddha in key roles. The film is produced by Vineet Jain, Aleya Sen, Hemant Bhandari, and Priti Sahani under the banner of Junglee Pictures and Chrome Pictures.
