It’s been a rare time for Salman Khan’s film where other film is getting a better response than it. While no Bollywood film even dares to clash with the mega star, Telugu star Allu Arjun’s Duvvada Jagannadham has performed better than Tubelight at box office.
Reportedly, DJ has grossed around 24 crore on its opening day. Tubelight collected 21.15 crore on 1st day with 4350 screens in India whereas DJ collected 24 crore just by releasing majorly in South Indian region with 1500 screens, which pretty much tells the tale.
Tubelght is one of the lowest response Salman Khan’s films have got in recent times. The reviews, word of mouth, occupancy, nothing is working in its favor. It needs to show some growth otherwise, it won’t even touch the 200 crore mark.
Tubelight has performed poorly at overseas markets as well. The audience didn’t like the emotional content of the film and even on 1st day, the crowd was not as big as you would generally witness for a Salman Khan film.
Directed by Kabir Khan, Tubelight also stars Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu, Matin Rey Tangu and Om Puri. It describes the bond of two brothers amidst the Indo-China war of 1962.
