Three films of Ashay Kumar were released this year and all of them entered the 100 crore club. He is the only actor to do so in a calendar year.
In January, Akshay Kumar’s Airlift was released. It was based on a real story of rescuing Indians from Kuwait. Airlift collected 129 crore and became the first 100 crore movie of 2016.
Akshay Kumar is also known for his epic comic timing and that’s what made Housefull 3 a big success. The film was released in June and it also went on to collect 107.70 crore. These numbers just state how bankable actor Akshay has become in the industry.
2016 also witnessed the biggest box office clash on Independence Day weekend when Akshay Kumar’s Rustom clashed against Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro. Rustom won the battle and became the 3rd Akshay Kumar film of 2016 to enter 100 crore club. Rustom’s lifetime collections are 127.42 crore.
This is one of the biggest year for Akshay and he has become the favorite actor for producers as his films are liked by the audiences. 2017 is going to be yet another grand year for him as his Jolly LLB 2, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha and 2.0 are set to make a big stir at box office.
